Location
Stead McAlpin is located just south of Carlisle in the village of Cummersdale. The site can be accessed from Junctions 41, 42 and 43 of the M6 motorway as follows:
- Route 1 - M6 Junction 41
- Route 3 - M6 Junction 42
- Route 2 - M6 Junction 43 (through Carlisle centre)
M6 Junction 43 (through Carlisle centre)
- Follow signs for Carlisle.
- After passing Carlisle United FC on the right, turn right at the traffic lights by St Aidan’s Church.
- Continue past Carlisle College on the right and at the next major set of traffic lights take the left lane but turn right. (Both lanes turn right.)
- At Hardwicke Circus (large roundabout with sunken garden) take the first exit, continuing in the left lane past Carlisle Castle on the right.
- Turn left at the next set of traffic lights (B5299).
- At the next set of traffic lights take the right lane to go straight on.
- Continue on this road, eventually passing Carlisle Cemetery and the Pirelli Factory on the left.
- After the Pirelli Factory take the next left to Cummersdale.
- Go right through the village, down the hill and follow the road round to Stead McAlpin.
