Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Gloucester at Stead McAlpin.

Tuesday 26 September 2017

Stead McAlpin and Co Ltd is delighted to receive Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Gloucester at the Cummersdale Printworks.

On Tuesday the 26th of September, Stead McAlpin and Co Ltd will have the honour of being visited by HRH the Duchess of Gloucester. During what will be the Duchess’ second visit to the factory a tour of the state of the art production facilities, including the world-renowned archive, will be undertaken during which HRH will meet several employees.

By unveiling a plaque which will commemorate the visit, HRH will also be opening the Christopher Soper Design Centre which is being co-sponsored by the AVA CAD CAM Group. The aim of this centre is to encourage the start-up process for enterprising new textile design businesses and to support the education of textile design trainees in the United Kingdom; a subject that the late owner of the company, Christopher Soper, was passionate about.

This visit marks a continuation of history with the royal family from when Queen Victoria commissioned her very own ‘Victoria and Albert Chintz’ to when our present Queen Elizabeth used our design - ‘Hyde Park’ to decorate Prince Charles’ nursery. We are proud to have the opportunity to host such a prestigious visitor and to further our history with the royal family.

Located in Cummersdale, England with a 182 year textile heritage dating back to 1835, Stead McAlpin is the most versatile fabric printer in the UK with rotary, flatbed, and digital prints as well as dyed products for many of the finest design-led home furnishing, upholstery, and apparel brands on the market. We work closely with our customers both nationwide and throughout the world at every stage of the manufacturing process to ensure a first-class product.
