Cummersdale Today

Monday 2 December 2013

The National Cycle Network offers miles of cycle routes, using easy to follow route signs and connecting towns and villages throughout the UK.

One of these National Routes passes through Cummersdale as it connects Dalston to Carlisle, the way being shared by cyclists and walkers.  Much of the route coincides with the Cumbrian Way.  The 76 miles of the Cumbrian Way is a North - South Route for walkers through some of the finest, and at times wildest, scenery in England.

The Cummersdale section follows the River Caldew, which rises on the flanks of Skiddaw and joins the Eden in Carlisle on its way to the Solway Estuary.

Both these routes pass the factory of Stead McAlpin, a textile printing works that produces high quality fabrics.  If you're ahead of schedule pop into our Factory shop and see if you can pick up a bargain.

Be sure to take advantage of the crisp days by getting outside this winter, you might just see some wildlife in the lagoon which supplies the printworks with water.
